The inconvenient truth: Naming a documentary is hard!
Throughout our lives we will be bombarded by a cacophony of media. Some may center its function on entertainment, some on information and some may attempt to fuse the two. A documentary is a bonding between information and entertainment. It is equivalent to combining the six o’clock news with the latest blockbuster! Due to this, their titles cannot solely be a cheap combination of words constructed by an ad executive, but rather an eloquent fabrication to satisfy all members of society. Not only must a title inform the viewer of the idiosyncrasies of the film, but it must also entice them.
Why are we telling you this? Well, we’re producing a documentary centered on Shaken Baby Syndrome, while investigating the medical field and the criminal justice system. Considering the sensitivity around this subject, it is not a simple task to find a name for the film. What is contained within a great title? What makes that title so great? Simply put, a title has to be interesting. A great example is ‘An Inconvenient Truth’. The title covertly informs the viewer that the matter at hand will probably cause them some sort of reduction in wellbeing.
With all this being said, after much deliberation, Mighty Myt Productions is pleased to announce the official title for our upcoming feature documentary. We present to you-
